What is the Bible?
The Bible is a book all about God. God is the main character. He is showing how loving, powerful, faithful, holy, and gracious he is. He has chosen to write it down so that we might be able to read and read his love letter to us.
It is broken up into two main sections. The Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament sets the stage and tells the readers about the story we are in. From our origins, to the calling of Abraham and the nation of Israel. How God chose a nation to bless even though they constantly disobeyed. And ultimately how we do not have the right hearts to be able to follow God as we ought to. We are too sinful, to selfish and bent away from God.
The New Testament begins with Jesus, the God-Man, coming to this earth. Jesus is the one we have waited for. The one in which the entire Old Testament told us to wait for. A Messiah, King, and God who would show us fully what God is like and be our Savior. Now as we express faith in Jesus we are called to live like Jesus in this life. Letters like Philippians tells us about how to have joy in suffering. Romans gives us a systematic approach to what salvation is and looks like. Revelation tells us about how God wins in the end.
This book is God’s way of speaking to us. He has shared about himself all through the ages and through different authors. God wants us to know him and follow his word.
