How can I see Jesus in my everyday life?
We might think that the spiritual time or our Jesus time happens on Sunday at church or maybe at a Bible study during the week. But we are to do everything for Jesus. (Col 3:17) How can I see Jesus in my life during the normal mundane moments? Or how can I be like Jesus when my kids are screaming and I’m angry because everything and everyone is going crazy?
Jesus wants to be in your life, on your mind, in your prayers, and in every moment of your day. Following Jesus is not just a Sunday activity. 1 Thessalonians tells us “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 These 5:16-18) Here are ways you can set your mind on God throughout the day. Have a moment alone in the car- pray. Marriage is going well, thank God. Taking a walk in the neighborhood- praise God for his creative beauty.
But what about when it is tough? When your co-worker is mean? When you kids do not listen? How do you invite God in? Maybe someone did something mean and hurt you. Everything in you wants to leave and ignore the person. But what if we see the way that God has loved us and so we forgive the other? (Rom 5:8). Maybe someone is overwhelmed at work. You go and take something off their plate. Why? Because love serves? All the moments of the day are opportunities to be like Jesus.
Open your eyes and start to see the normal, mundane, boring moments as opportunities to talk with Jesus. See the hard, difficult, and challenging moments as time to be like Jesus.
